December Update: Behind the Scenes and Recommendations

Here’s the video form of my latest update, or read below!

Hello friends,

It’s Royce here with a December update! Things have been a little quiet lately, but I’m still here, hard at work behind the scenes. Here’s what’s been going on and what’s coming next.

Book Updates: Sequel in Progress

Work on the sequel to Oops, I Broke the Wizard’s Android is moving forward, albeit slowly. I don’t have a release date yet, but if you keep an eye here, you’ll be the first to know when there’s news.

Sphere Hoppers Wiki

I’ve started a long-awaited project for the Sphere Hoppers universe: creating a comprehensive wiki! This involves compiling transcripts from all the Gone Solo and Sphere Hoppers episodes into one accessible database. Not only will it make things easier for those who prefer to read rather than watch, but it’ll also help me keep track of characters and plot threads as the universe grows.

This is a time-consuming task, so I’m not sure when it’ll be ready, but I think it’ll be worth the wait!

Next Sphere Hoppers Storyline

I’ve also selected the system and storyline for the next section of Sphere Hoppers. Longtime viewers might be able to guess what’s coming based on some items on my bookshelf (though it’s a bit blurry in the video). It’s a story I promised a long time ago so it’s one I’ve been think about for a long time. Stay tuned!

Magpie Dreams, a solo tarot RPG

I’m excited to share that I designed a solo RPG using tarot cards! The game is called Magpie Dreams and it’s part of Magpie Zines: Six of Magpies, the sixth installment in a tarot-themed zine series. The Kickstarter has wrapped up, but as of now is still available for late backing! I’ll also chat with the creator, Scott, about making the game available for people who missed the campaign. Check out the Kickstarter here.

Recommendations: What I’m Playing, Reading, and Listening

I’ve been diving into a few creative and cozy pastimes recently:

  • Playing: I’ve been enjoying a solo RPG called Koriko: A Magical Year by Jack Harrison of Mousehole Press. Inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service, it follows a young witch on an apprenticeship in an unfamiliar town. It’s sweet, cozy, and surprisingly tense thanks to its dice-stacking mechanic. Highly recommended if you can find it!
  • Reading: I’ve been reading Octavia Butler’s Xenogenesis trilogy (Dawn and Adulthood Rites) and then skipped over to Parable of the Sower.
  • Listening: My sibling’s band, Gila Teen, just released their album SoftWareWolf, and I genuinely love it! If you’re into late ’90s alternative rock or pop-punk, it’s a no-skip album. I’ve been playing it on repeat, and I think you’ll enjoy it too. Listen on Bandcamp or YouTube.

As we head into the holiday season, life will get a bit chaotic, but I’ll keep working behind the scenes. When my next projects are ready, you’ll be the first to know.

Until then, remember:

Be kind, stay curious, and keep hoppin’.

Take care,
Royce
