Appearance: Smuy wears a tattered cloak with the hood pulled up, and is often seen petting his fuzzy gruen.

Background: Smuy is a hermit who has a dour outlook on the world. He lives in a makeshift hut constructed from black vines and roots with bioluminescent shoots woven together in the wilderness. Smuy attempted to set a trap to capture someone else to steal from because he needed to make a little money. Smuy has been helpful on Fabum’s past investigations.

Key Story Arcs and Relationships:

  • Encounter with Fabum’s Trap: Fabum encountered Smuy after noticing a trap involving a fuzzy gruen in the river as she was leaving the Sylicate village. Smuy was revealed to be the one who set the trap, intending to steal from whoever was caught.
  • Offer of Assistance: Fabum, recognizing Smuy as a local contact who had helped her before, offered Smuy some of her funds instead of being angry about the trap.
  • Lack of Knowledge about TransTech: Fabum questioned Smuy about the TransTech supply train, but Smuy was confused and did not know what it was, asking if it was a plant or an herb.
  • Capture of the Martian Medic: Fabum and Doceep later found that Smuy’s trap had captured a Martian medic.
  • Interrogation of the Medic: Fabum and Doceep used Smuy’s hut to interrogate the captured Martian medic to gain information about the Martian facility and the TransTech cargo.
  • Return with Hypnotized Sylicates: Fabum and Doceep returned to Smuy’s hut after the chaos in the Sylicate village, bringing the plant cutting and data pad, intending to use the Martian medic’s knowledge to break the hypnotic control over the Sylicates.
  • Release of the Medic: After Doceep modified weapons to disrupt the Martian hypnosis with the medic’s help, they let the medic go.
