Fabum Rajasauros

Appearance: Fabum is a saurian arbitrator and member of the Saurian Arbitrator’s Guild on The Crucible. She is a dinosaur-like being resembling a Rajasaurus, similar in appearance to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, though a separate species. She wears a long brown dust jacket. She carries a short-ranged pistol called the Dream Ray, which causes confusion and disorientation.

Background: Fabum does not see the Crucible as her home. Instead, she views it as a challenge and welcomes the opportunity to test herself. She hearkens back to ancient history and sees herself as belonging to the original Earth.

Personality:

  • Desire: Love. Fabum is a lonely dino looking for someone to love in the wilds of the Crucible. She is actively searching for a romantic partner.
  • Fear: Humiliation. Fabum avoids looking foolish or unprepared.
  • Strength: Curious. She is always wanting to learn new things and explore different places.

Key Story Arcs and Relationships:

  • First Mission (The Midnight Jungle): Fabum was dispatched to the Midnight Jungle to resolve a dispute between the Sylicates and Giants. She successfully mediated the conflict. During this mission, she developed a romantic interest in a Sylicate performer named Beigh.
  • The TransTech Mystery: Fabum was assigned to investigate decreased traffic on a maglev train line in the Midnight Jungle. She discovered a stopped train emitting negative emotions. Her investigation led to a hostile encounter with a Sylicate aembermancer.
  • Relationship with Beigh: Upon returning to the Sylicate village, Fabum’s attempt to deepen her connection with Beigh was rebuffed due to the TransTech investigation. This rejection caused her distress.
  • Encounter with Smuy: On her way back to headquarters, Fabum encountered Smuy, a human hermit, and his fuzzy Gruen, who had set a trap.
  • Return to Headquarters: Fabum traveled back to the Saurian Arbitrator’s Guild headquarters in Partum Mechanica using an abandoned rocket pod provided by Smuy. She was greeted by her superior, Priethest, who was more interested in a fete than her investigation.
  • Acquisition of a Steed and Partner: Priethest assigned Fabum an inexperienced artisan, Doceep, as backup and provided large, saddled pterosaurs as new vehicles.
  • The Need for Key Berries: The pterosaur required a rare food called key berries, leading Fabum and Doceep on a side quest to find them. They sought information from Voobep, a Martian elder and enthusiast of Archon battles, to locate key berry sites.
  • Dispute in the Forest of Doors: En route to the Midnight Jungle, Fabum and Doceep were tasked by Priethest to resolve a dispute in the Forest of Doors involving hungry specters and spirits. Doceep used his scientific background to temporarily contain the specters.
  • Encounter with Martian Experimentation: During their journey, they encountered a Martian scout guarding a plant growth experiment in a young forest.
  • Betrayal by Doceep: While searching for more key berries in a hypnotic swamp near the Martian experimental area, Fabum was entranced by a hypnotic vine, and Doceep abandoned her, revealing he had secret orders.
  • Doceep’s Secret Mission: Doceep’s secret mission was to acquire Martian hypnosis technology related to their experimental plants for a secretive division within the Saurian Arbitrator’s Guild. He retrieved a plant cutting and a datapad from a spirit named Triwoc. He later rescued the entranced Fabum from the swamp, concealing his betrayal.
  • Return to the Midnight Jungle and Confrontation: Fabum and Doceep returned to the Midnight Jungle to continue the TransTech investigation and find more key berries. They encountered and defeated faeries guarding a stash of key berries. Fabum then confronted Beigh about the TransTech train, learning it was transporting plants.
  • Investigation of the Martian Facility and Prisoner Rescue: Following the train tracks led Fabum and Doceep to a Martian facility where they observed the Sylicate aembermancer entering. They later captured a Martian medic, learning about neurological symptoms among the Martians. While flying over the facility, they witnessed Martians taking Sylicates, including Beigh, prisoner, prompting them to intervene.
  • Revelation of Doceep’s Secret: During an aerial assault on the Martian facility, Doceep’s secret items were revealed, leading to a confrontation with Fabum.
  • Battle in the Sylicate Village: After rescuing some of the Sylicate prisoners, Fabum and Doceep returned to the Sylicate village, where they discovered some villagers, including Beigh, were under Martian hypnotic control. This led to a battle within the village.
  • Breaking the Hypnotic Control and Repelling the Martians: Fabum and Doceep, with the help of the captured Martian medic, developed a way to break the Martian hypnotic suggestion using modifications to their weapons. They returned to the village and freed the controlled Sylicates, ultimately repelling a Martian counterattack with the help of the Sylicates and local jungle creatures summoned by the freed pterosaur.
  • Resolution and Rekindled Romance: Following the battle, the Sylicates celebrated their freedom. Fabum reconciled with Beigh, whose previous rejection was revealed to be due to Martian hypnotic suggestion. Doceep contacted a higher level of the Saurian Arbitrator’s Guild, and the campaign concluded with peace in the village.
